Looks like I still remember my password.

I forgot the standard notation…but:

hidden:
1. Knight g1 to e2.
2. If Pawn to c2.
3. then Knight to c3.
4. Pawn must promote to bishop or else Knight to b1 or a2 (depending on promotion type).
5. Knight to a2.
6. Bishop must move somewhere…
7. Knight moves to bishops original location at c1.
8. Bishop takes Knight.

also:

hidden:
2. If Pawn to e2.
3. Then Knight to d4.
4. Then Pawn promotes to bishop or else Knight to e2 or c2 (depending on promotion type).
5. Knight to e6
6. Bishop must move somewhere.  
7. Knight can move to any black square on bishop’s line of attack.

Several guesses, off the top of my head..

1) You went to Afghanistan for 3 years volunteer work, did not have any internet access there.

2) You were incarcerated for 3 years ---> as what Icky said

3) You were in a comma for 3 years.

4) You were found guilty of a computer felony, and instructed not to use a computer for 3 years.

5) You died, leaving your username and password intact in your computer. After 3 years, your son found it, and decided to log into this forum under ur name.

Take your pick..  :P

Either that or a lack of internet connection due to being somewhere else - having moved for business, call of duty or prison (as was already suggested),gone to the final frontier, etc.  :-/

1-5...good guesses.  But I actually had access to the Internet.

Close enough.  The last three years of my four year degree was difficult.  These riddles took so much of my time (last time I post a "What Happened" riddle, lol).  Although, the reason was not a thesis because I switched majors explaining my older age upon graduating.  I graduated on August 4th and now I have a good job and all the time in the world!

Hey, if it's any consolation, I graduated with my degree at the age of 25, so you're better off..  :P

Although, I did managed to get a job and a wife 3 on the same year, and a son by the next..so you have a lot of catching up to do !!   ;D
