Brendan and Mindy have been a couple for several years now. Today, Brendan comes to his girlfriend, Mindy's, house. As Brendan waits on the porch, Mindy, hearing the doorbell, goes to see who it is. Mindy opens the door, then immediately goes back inside, grabs the first sharp object in sight, and then stabs Brendan in the head with said object, killing him instantly.  What happened?

sorry, no wordplay.... just wanted to be very clear that the house was, indeed, his girlfriend's (and that his girlfriend was, indeed, Mindy).

It could be 2 Mindys. One is his wife, and the other is the girlfriend. Neither knows each other. The girlfriend Mindy eventually finds out about the wife Mindy, and when Brendan comes, she is so angry that she kills him.

well... as was stated originally, she stabbed him. And, as was stated in a hint, she [hide]had no intention of so doing[/hide]... so to your first question, yes.

That's what I thought at first, but I thought it was too farfetched.

[hide]Brendan arrived with someone else (IDK who; probably someone who Mindy did't like), and that someone rang the doorbell.  He ran away while Mindy was getting the sharp object, leaving Brendan alone, and when she came out, she was in such a rage that she stabbed the man at the door before realizing who it was.[/hide]  I know that one's wrong...

Brendan probably looked like someone who she hated and was afraid of, so when he came to the door, she was so surprised that she thought he was that man. so she killed him by accident.

I agree that Sir Col is on the right track. Except that given the clue about Brendan not being able to afford a ticket, I'm betting that [hide]the guy mailed himself in a shipping crate. The person who was with him was the delivery man. And of course Mindy stabbed him. After all, when you get a package, don't you jam a long knife into it as far as it can go?[/hide] ::)
