Title: Whodunit on world X
Post by koonie32 on Dec 9th, 2006, 3:13pm
I am not good at this do dont laugh
The detective  of world X is called to the scene.
At the scene no one but one officer is there.
So the detective asks whats going on?
The officer said this very strange code was on a note on his body.  He just saw it. It said
"Rfc igjjcp gq lcyp"

The officer suggests potential enemies the dead man had. the first man was john. this dead man and john got into a quibble yesterday and made threats against each other.

The officer also suggests the dead man's wife is an enemy. She knows the dead man has cheated on her.

The detective calls everyone in.

John and the wife immediately plead innocence. John reveals that the dead man has hated him for so long but that he would never do it. He continues saying how they got in a fight, and how the dead guy brought out a knife with two blades. Luckily john says he escaped.

The wife says that the dead guy has cheated on her twice. She also reveals he always keeps a gun in house loaded with two bullets. She says John does this in case his "enemies" decide to come after him.

The detective still confused decides to check other people. No useful information clicks anything in his mind.... he is just confused.

After gathering this infomartion and thinking, the idea clicks, the detective immediately arrests the officer. What led him to do this?

Sorry if its bad! Its my first one.

Note : I wont be available for the next two hours.

Could I ask you to please use descriptive titles? Something that in a year or two would remind people of the content of your threads without them having to open them, or allow them to find the thread when hunting for it.

Yes, his homework threads should all carry a public health warning: 'Lasciate ogni speranza voi ch'entrate'.   ;)

This note...is that what the code is written on? I thought it was directly on his skin. So, did he just dna test the blood and it was the officer's?

The note was first seen only once the detective got there. The officer did not see it.

The dead man has an infatuation with one certain thing. What is it?

Also How do I do that hint thing...

Do we not get to know the cause of death?

Perhaps the blood on the note was fresh, while the body had been dead a while?

perhaps the dead guy has ocd, and wouldn't let there be stains on the bottom of his note?

as for hiding hints, while you're typing, find the tool bar right above the row of smilies. the far right one says hide on it. simply type whatever you want to hide between the hide tags.

I'd say the guy had a tendency for doing things [hide]twice (two blades, two bullets, cheating two times)[/hide].
So, maybe the detective suspected the officer since [hide]the note was written only once[/hide] -- in which case he should probably be fired...

Also, maybe on world X, "Rfc igjjcp gq lcyp" means "The officer did it"  :P

Expanding on hiding:

If you write [hide]This is hidden[/hide], you'll see [hide]This is hidden[/hide].
I addition, you can quote someones' post to see what they did to get some effect you like.

I can't believe the brains here have not already cracked the code (or maybe you have and you're holding back).  A simple [hide]+2 translation[/hide] will decode the message.

Yes but [hide] who is near?  Maybe it indicates that the killer used a knife, or he wouldn't have to get near the victim.  But the modus operandi can certainly be seen on the corpse.  And it would incriminate the wife because knowing that the guy was killed by a knife, John would  prefer not to mention a knife.  So why arrest the officer?  Are the wife and the officer a single person?[/hide]

I don't understand how he could draw this conclusion either but this is what I think you want: [hide]I believe that by your second post you mean the note was written in blood as the man was dying and the officer failed to notice it.  Because the officer was there long enough to come up with two suspects, he should have been there long enough to see the note, had he actually been investigating the way he should have.[/hide]

It seems ridiculous that the detective can rule out all other suspects simply because the note says the killer is nearby.

He arrests the officer for his sloppy work.

Possible solutions:
1.[hide]If wifey or John did it, he would have written "The killer is wifey or John." He didn't know the killer's name. But that would just rule out the 2, it wouldn't rule in the officer.[/hide]
2.[hide]The officer's name is Near.[/hide]
3.[hide]The note was unfinished, and the detective correctly surmised that what he hreally meant to write is, "The killer is near-sighted." Or "The killer is nearly seven feet tall, with hazel eyes and blonde hair and a cute smile, and answers to the name Fluffy."[/hide]
4.[hide]The officer has no explanation for why he was naked in the deceased's bedroom.[/hide]
5.[hide]For some reason this takes place on planet X. Maybe all the bad guys on this planet have a big X on their foreheads.[/hide]
6.[hide]Actually the detective did it, and he just wanted someone to accuse.[/hide]
7.[hide]The fact that the officer knows how many affairs the wife has had, suggests that he's the one she was having an affair with, and failing to disclose that he was a possible suspect is suspicious.[/hide]
8. [hide]The dead body is arranged on the floor in the pose of the Vetruvian Man, and the officer is an albino member of Opus Dei. And the detective decided to just make a long boring story short.[/hide]
