Title: Soaked Guy
Post by TrophyBoy on Oct 1st, 2006, 8:02pm
Here's another riddle to keep you thinking.

This guy comes home and his wife realizes he's soaked, he's completely wet. The husband goes directly to the kitchen, grabs a knife and kills himself.

Why did this happen?

[hide]He tried to kill himself.

He jumped from a bridge with a rope around the neck after taking poison and tried to shoot himself in the head while falling.  The shot missed the head and cut the rope.  The fall in the water made him drink water and vomit the poison.  A boat, alerted by the shot came to rescue him.

He decided to do it with a knife instead.

Good grief.. That sounds farfetched and convoluted enough to be the answer.

I like the similar story about the guy who tried to kill himself by making sure he had three ways to do it. He ties a rope to the edge of a cliff, ties the other end around his neck, jumps. The rope doesn't catch immediately and break his neck, so he pulls out two guns and points them upwards. Instead of shooting himself (he's still moving up and down), he shoots through the rope, plummeting to the icy water below. He passes out, washes up on shore, and dies three days later of hypothermia.

Who knows if it's true or not, likely just an alteration of the same story, but either way, it's got some dark humor in it.

How about... ?

[hide]He'd been out for a run one Sunday morning and a torrential down pour of rain forced him to take cover. Realising that the rain was not going to let up he made a dash for it, but when he finally arrived home he was soaked through to the skin.

However, one of his jobs on Sunday is to carve the meat. His wife, annoyed at his late return, orders him into the kitchen immediately to cut the meat before he takes a shower and gets changed.

Dripping wet he picks up the electric carving knife and... zap... he electrocutes himself to death.[/hide]

I just saw a show on TV about forensics.  It is about a real case.

Warning: violent content.
[hide] They found a guy beheaded under a bridge with a gun nearby.   They first though of murder.  But after investigating they concluded that the guy attached a rope to his neck and to the bridge, and jumped (or probably fell) after shooting himself in the mouth.  The shock was so violent that the head was actually ripped off. [/hide]

So maybe it is not so far fetched after all.

[hide]he decided to walk home, but on the way home he went under some sprinklers and when he came into the house, he ignored what his wife said and went crazy and killed himself because of a new song that he had heard on the radio and couldn't get out of his head, the song being the reason he walked home, it was playing on every radio station and he would have had to get a taxi to get home.[/hide]

Perhaps she turned on the sprinklers before he came back, late at night when he was supposedly sleeping, and he walked through them. His wife realized he was gone, perhaps cheating on her. Out of guilt he takes his own life.

Of course he is sweating: [hide]he saw his wife[/hide].

Maybe I have another explanation.
[hide]He is wet, soaked in blood.  Earlier this afternoon, he saw his wife with another man.  He followed them to his place.  When he peeked thru the window, he saw that they were not there for playing scrabble.  So he broke into the house and savagely stabbed them both.  It was awful.  Blood everywhere.  He managed to sneak out and drive back unseen.  When he saw his wife reading peacefully at home, he remembered she has a twin sister.  So he decided to kill himself.[/hide]

He is soaked from the rain. This is the moment his wife has been waiting for to kill her husband by electrocution and collect a large life insurance policy. (She and her lover had taken the umbrella out his car so he would be unprepared for rain). She has the electrodes ready, and her lover is blocking the the way back outside- also ready with electrodes. However he can make it to the kitchen. Lacking the strength of O.J. Simpson, he could not defeat them both using just a knife. His death is inevitible, but at least by stabbing himself to death it voids the life insurance policy (due to the usual suicide clause).

Good lord people, you all make it sound so high-tech. He could've just [hide]tried to kill himself by drowning, lost his nerve, came back up, and went home to stab himself instead, which requires no self-control whatsoever.[/hide]

I have a feeling that's not the answer, otherwise it wouldn't matter if he had a wife or not. Hell, it could be as simple as he poured water on his head and stabbed himself on accident while trying to cut bread or something, but most likely that's not the answer either.

These riddles have the craziest answers. I mean, maybe [hide]he was drenched in lighter fluid, for some unknown reason, he went in the kitchen to cut something for dinner, still thinking that it was water and not lighter fluid on him, turn on the stove, slip, and light himself on fire.[/hide]

I'm gonna say he's on mars, and since there's no water, he realizes it's all a setup by NASA to try and trick him. He feels so bad since NASA set up cameras to broadcast his humiliation to the whole world, then he sees his wife isn't the alien she thought, and kills himself with dental floss. The knife was in case he changed his mind.

What if I was right?
