Well, as my sentence was supposed to suggest; they don't want to live together, but can't (both) live apart.
They might share a liver for example. And half a liver won't cut it, so someone will have to go without. And being a vital organ, going without is rather hazardous to one's health.

I'll give the first one to BNC, he looked at his siamese twin who was dead, realising he would die as well.

The other answer in which they don't have to be related grimbal has a lead on in one of his answers with the other guy not being human

Another clue for the other answer: imagine there is a very reflective mirror. combining that with not human, what do you get?

I'm not familiar witht the movies (not being a horror-film fan), but from what I gather, it would not fit. You need to look to the more distance horror past... I count on you to get it.

True, very zen, there was some other riddle about a man eats food that is not poisened, but it kills him, how? or something and one answer was that he was adam and he ate from the tree of good and evil, sinning, causing his eventual death. quite sly cchris. ;)

Hmm... if they are 2 they are not alone.  So one of them has to go.

Or: the 2 people are Schroedinger's cat (singular intended).  One turns around and sees the experimenter open the door and look at the "other" cat.
