[hide]He can see his own cards.
Alternatively, he could have counted cards, and these were the last ones.[/hide]

[hide]There's a lot of money on the table because[/hide]

[hide] they've played their way through most of the deck, and Jack has a good memory so he knows what's left.[/hide]

That's my guess.

[hide]They're playing hold-ems and he's got the nuts?

I don't like the way the question is worded, who is "he"? [/hide]

Yes, he has [hide]royal flush[/hide].  ;)

Only if they are playing standard poker.

[hide]If wild cards are involved, 5 of a kind beats a straight flush (even a "royal straight flush")[/hide]

But like Keypad says, if they're playing hold'em there's lots of possibilities for a player to either be certain that he will win, or else be certain that he will at least split the pot (which is still a gain if he splits the pot with one other player and some of the other players have also put money in).

EG if a straight flush is possible on a given set of community cards, the player may have the best possible one;
if a straight flush is NOT possible, the player may have the only possible (or the best possible) 4 of a kind,
if neither is possible, he may have the best possible ffull house)

Standard poker just means no wild cards are involved.  Hold'em is a form of standard poker and I agree that in Hold'em there are a number of ways to know one has the winning hand, IF the flop is in your favor.  For example, you're holding an ace - ten and the king, queen and jack show up in the flop.  Or holding the ace for the "nut" flush.

You have the best hand, but you haven't won just yet, without seeing the last 2 cards..
