Title: Lost will Post by cheesepuff on Nov 11th, 2005, 6:32pm a lawyer said in court: "My client had found a will stuck between page 157 and 158 of a book. The property is rightfully my client's." The will looked genuine, and all the information was right, but the client did not get any property at all. The will was classified as fake. Why? |

Title: Re: Lost will Post by Neelesh on Nov 11th, 2005, 10:09pm [hideb]may be because 157 and 158 are the numbers of two sides of a same physical page. But still its not uncommon to "hide" a will between two sides of the same page ::) [/hideb] |

Title: Re: Lost will Post by Mike_V on Nov 12th, 2005, 9:52pm What about a watermark? |

Title: Re: Lost will Post by Grimbal on Nov 13th, 2005, 3:17am What about a single-sided printout? |

Title: Re: Lost will Post by cheesepuff on Nov 14th, 2005, 6:38pm its a will, not a watermark and books usually are written with writing and page numbers given to both sides of a page |

Title: Re: Lost will Post by Grimbal on Nov 15th, 2005, 1:06am It doesn't say it is a book. Even then, if the deceased is a writer, it could be a manuscript written on a typewriter. |

Title: Re: Lost will Post by towr on Nov 15th, 2005, 2:33am And even if they lied about where they found the will, or simply made a mistake, it's no ground for dismissing the will. |

Title: Re: Lost will Post by cheesepuff on Nov 15th, 2005, 7:27pm why lie about where they found the will? and sorry, I didn't say it was a book, but it was |

It doesn't take much to confuse 156,157 with 157,158 Most people are bad with numbers anyway. |

Title: Re: Lost will Post by Grimbal on Nov 16th, 2005, 10:01am What if the book was not numbered in base 10? ::) |

Title: Re: Lost will Post by Grimbal on Nov 17th, 2005, 12:38am Hm.... I only know of a case of a small computer newsletter that was numbered in binary. When they printed number 100, a school library asked for the missing numbers 12 to 99. Anyway, can you think of a base where 157 and 158 are on different physical pages? ::) |

Interesting. [hide] (157)b = ( 7 + 5*b + b2 ) 10 and hence for all values of b, this number will be "odd".[/hide] So if we assume that pages of book are numbered starting with 1 on RHS page, then [hide] not possible [/hide] |

Title: Re: Lost will Post by towr on Nov 17th, 2005, 1:26am Maybe if you don't use an integer base.. ::) |

Of course, that would still only be well-readable from one side. |
