no, good guess though....tbeing the savages they were, they could just throw him in the bonfire and hack him off piece by piece or gouge his flesh out to eat. lol not in half. and why was he just crowned king and all that?

I suppose he was chopped in two because they wanted him dead, and didn't want to leave the job half done.
He was probably declared king after they'd done the same to his father.
