I looked for a topic concerning this riddle (the one about the fireman in the bar) but came up empty-handed. I'm hoping it's not because the riddle is considered so easy that no one deigned to waste a thread on it until I came along. I can't figure it out! Please give me a hint or provide me with a link to a proper thread if there is any... thanks.

so there's no answer that uses the bit about the boiling hot coffee and the ice cold water?

The search engine usually only looks at threads less than a year old, unless you tell it to look further back.

Now that I think about it, I'm not sure I liked that riddle very much... but that's probably just because I couldn't solve it. :-/

Maybe ice cold water means water, and boiling hot cofee means fire? He wants to douse a fire? the barman could have made some wild guesses... ;D

The most obvious answer (which you will find if you follow the link in towr's post) is that the fireman was in uniform.
