Title: Unconscious man
Post by nickkk on Aug 12th, 2004, 12:32am
A policeman was called in because there was a man lying unconcious on the ground.  When the man came around, the policeman arrested him.  The shoyru was not in any fights or dispute.  Why was it arrested?

any help would be great!!
Thanks

This is not really a riddle. It is more of a "what happened" question  in which those to whom the question is being posed may ask questions of the poser until they are able to deduce the answer. (Or at least, so I assume, since there is not sufficient information available from the question or the culture to suggest a particular answer.)

For this reason I am moving it to the "what happened" forum, and renaming it to "unconscious man" (Please read the "Please use meaningful names" threads in each of the main forums.)

Since you are not the poser of this question, we can't ask you for additional information, but perhaps someone has heard this one before, or maybe you can relay the questions to the person who put it to you.

Well, I have a question. Where do you find a shoryu? Is the "rising dragon" of Chinese mythology? (or did you mistype <<agiety>>??

If it is the climbing dragon, then any good mythological policeman would capture the dragon and prevent him from swallowing the moon. So, obviously, the man was unconcious, but upon awakening, he/it transformed into a dragon. It became a particularly bad dragon, but not a match for the mythical cop.

I'm going to say the man tried to steal computers from my company's server base.  The alarm went off, and immediately Halon gas filled the now-sealed room.
The man passed out due to lack of oxygen.
The cop found him during the small time between the criminal's passing out and death.

And the rest is history.

Another idea.  Aren't there places where suicide is illegal?  The guy tried to commit suicide, jumped from the window, didn't die, and was arrested for his attempt.

Suicide is never illegal.
ATTEMPTED suicide, however, is a different story.

Just because you're unable to punish the perpetrater doesn't mean it isn't illegal. Suicide is a homicide, which is generally illegal. :P Otherwise everything you can get away with would be legal..
It'd be funny if the punishment for attempted suicide was death.. ::)

If homicide is the killing of a man (homo - man)...
and infanticide is the killing of an baby (infant - baby)...
then isn't Suicide the killing of an American Indian?

;D

Strangely enough, in England at least, I think it used to be the punishment for attempted suicide (just in case some people didn't know...)

Well I've heard one solution with this initial set up.  But it could be anything.

This is the one which I heard:

:: [hide]
He was a dumb criminal.

He was attempting to rob a jewellery store.

His chosen method was to throw a brick through the window.

He would thus gain access to said jewellery store whereupon he would scoop up armfuls of gems and make good his escape thereby enriching himself considerably.

Unfortunately, he failed to consider the possibility that the jewellery store had managed to work out that a glass window was a security hazard, and his plan, cunning though it undoubtedly was, sadly failed.

The store had unbreakable glass.

Result:  Man throws brick at window.  Brick bounces off window.  Brick hits man.  Man falls down unconscious.  Someone stops laughing long enough to phone police.  [/hide]  ::

I think that last answer works, but unfortunately, so would a practically infinite number of others without more information. Any situation where a person attempts to commit a crime and somehow winds up unconscious (brick to the head, halon, ether, gunshot, etc), then arrested on waking up, is a potential answer.

Unconscious could just be sleeping. Maybe he passed out drunk and spent the night in the drunk tank, only to be arrested on waking up for something he did the night before?

A doctor was growing berries in his garden.  But he discovered that someone was stealing them at night.  He was not in the mood to stay awake all night to catch the thief, so he put a strong soporific agent on those nearest to the fence.  The next day, he discovered they have been stolen, and someone was deep asleep near his garden.  He called the police.

I took this from a story where the doctor used a strong laxative instad, and was curious who would call for a case of sudden diarrhoea.
