All:
There is are 5 persons together.
They know that a 6th will arrive soon.
And because of that coming they will all die.

The question is what happened (or what will happen) ?

Ask questions, I will answer as soon as I could.

Will the sixth guy die too?

Are they in a lifeboat built for 5?

Is the sixth a child about to be born?

Do they know who this person is or just that a person is coming?

No they are not exactly in a lifeboat built for 5, but the response is very near that.

There is definitely some limited resource that the sixth person will use too much of so they all die. They could have limited food. They could be in a spaceship with limited air (but then they could just kill one of them). They could be in an overpopulated country where having too many children results in execution.

I know it's not the intended answer, but I really like maryl's idea. It fits the original description perfectly (at least if you interpret it to mean only the 5 die).

5 guys with the nooses already around their necks, waiting for the hangman to get back from his bathroom break and open the trapdoors.

Yes lots of answers are possible.
The "WhatHappened"s are good for long car rides (as say aero_guy) not for a forum with obligatory lag.

The story

They are on the earth after a nuclear war, in an anti-atomic shelter (abri anti-atomique).
They are of course isolated from the exterior.
There is some ressources for 5 persons and not more ( food, living animals, culture, machine to recycle air ...).
There were a boy and his girlfriend.
and a professor who invented a machine to recycle waste in food.

The professor give contraceptive to the girl, but she simulate the action to take it.
And few month after, they see that a child will be born.

They decide to make the girl avorted (?? I want to say: to lose child). The couple refuse, kill the professor and put his body into the food-machine.
The machine goes wrong and the food balance of the shelter is broken.

They will all die.
sniff ... :(

The story is taken from a movie, which I did not see.

I'm sorry, but if the food machine is broken, they will die anyway. How is the "coming" of the baby connected?

If the baby had not been made then the professor would not have been killed and the machine would have been working.

But BNC has a point. How could the "coming" of the 6th person kill them all?

know this is way past last post. oh well don't care. stupid obvious answer: the person coming is a serial killer. or someone wih a deadly virus that will kill them all. or it is not a human but an alien from a murderous species. or...its the grim reaper? obviously, if you can see the grim reaper, you're dead. or seeing things or very intune with ghosts. ,aybe these people are tied to a train track and know that when thier former best friend comes with the train, they will ge run over? the person is charging at them with a lance? they are in a certain part of the hospital and know when the nurse comes, she will pull the plug cuz she's a psycho? or are these "people" not people but animals about to be put down that know they will die when the vet comes?
