This isn't actually new news, but in case anyone's interested, there are a lot more image avatars available than there were a few months ago (as some of you have discovered). Image avatars can be changed by clicking on the "profile" link in the top menu bar. You need to be a member to customize a profile.

Most of the images slant toward late 1980s to present-day geek culture ... usually anime, video games, and particular movies. Some samples:

You can view the whole gallery of images by clicking on "Profile" in the top menu bar of the forum, and then checking out the "Personalized Picture" section.
