Title: Really Need Help with This Riddle
Post by boller1 on Aug 27th, 2007, 5:41pm
Where in the World??

There once were two countries far apart
One with a sculptor quite smart
The other was free
With a celebration to be
Raising money immediately had to start

Any help with this will be appreciated!!
Thanks!!

Doesn't sound like a riddle, but it sounds like a... oh, we just learnt about it, I used to write these. Think brain.

Limerick? Although I'm not too sure about how well it scans...

Doesn't stop it involving some puzzle in deciphering what it is describing, though.

The two answers I have so far are:

1. US and Brazil
2. US and France

Either of these sound right?

Yeah, it sounds a lot like the story of the Statue of Liberty. Its French sculptor "obtained a U.S. patent useful for raising construction funds through the sale of miniatures", according to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statue_of_Liberty). The celebration was, of course, the 100th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

Limerick, yes that's the one.

US and Brazil are pretty close, so I don't think it's correct. US and France is the correct answer, I jsut checked up in one of my books  ;D. Well done.
