Title: Re: WHERE'S THE FATHER? Post by towr on Aug 26th, 2005, 11:43am There is an earlier thread (http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~wwu/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=riddles_medium;action=display;num=1027845810) about it, but it's a few years old and the search engine default to at most a year back. But luckily the math hasn't changed too much ;) |

Title: Re: WHERE'S THE FATHER? Post by towr on Aug 26th, 2005, 2:21pm There are a lot of riddles of that kind, they're more jokes than puzzles, I think. Instead of an 'aha erlebness' they evoke a *lol*-erlebnis ;) |

Title: Re: WHERE'S THE FATHER? Post by ngpdoc on Sep 3rd, 2005, 4:44am What about, if the mother-child difference is 15 years, and after 4 years it becomes 4 times the age. Then where should the father be? |

Title: Re: WHERE'S THE FATHER? Post by segfault01 on May 24th, 2006, 12:17am [hide]if you calculate out the values, you'll get -3/4 years, which translates to -9 months. In other words, the baby is being made right now. Thus, unless artificial insemination is being used... well, hopefully you can figure out the rest.[/hide] |

Title: Re: WHERE'S THE FATHER? Post by Death on Aug 10th, 2006, 7:23am ah, but then you have to take into consideration at what time is the baby considered as a "being". some people say that it is after fertilisation of the egg, while others say after a defined period of time (e.g. 28 days), while others still say that it is only after the primal streak has formed. |

Title: Re: WHERE'S THE FATHER? Post by Icarus on Aug 10th, 2006, 4:38pm In this case, that definition is implicit in the question, since the question asserts that the child exists 9 months prior to its birth. |

Title: Re: WHERE'S THE FATHER? Post by Grimbal on May 8th, 2017, 3:16pm The riddle could state: In one year from now the mother will be 21 years older than the child. In 6 years from now, the mother will be 5 times as old as the child. Where is the father? |
