Title: Quick little math riddle Post by Galactic on Feb 17th, 2003, 7:32am Ok here goes: 3 guys go to a hotel. They get 1 room for the 3 of them. The total comes out to 30 dollars. So each man pays 10 dollars. ($30) Then the hostess tells them there is a special discount on that day, so they get 5 dollars back. ($30 - $5 = $25) So they decide to each take a dollar and leave 2 dollars for the cleaning maid as a tip. ($5 - $3 - $2 = 0) Now seeing as how the each originally paid 10 dollars and they each got 1 dollar back, logically each one of them paid 9 dollars. Now it's kind of impossible. 9 x 3 = 27, yet they only left 2 dollars as tip... 27 + 2 = 29. Any ideas on how they did this? |
