Title: PLEASE CHECK FOR EXISTING THREADS!!! Post by william wu on Jul 30th, 2002, 5:29am Before posting a topic, please check if a thread already exists for it. I know it is annoying to have to search for your topic. However, it's even more annoying to have a bunch of disjoint threads hanging around on the same topic. If too many disjoint threads are developed, I'll delete some of them, and they might be yours. |

Title: Re: PLEASE CHECK FOR EXISTING THREADS!!! Post by Neil Sedaka on Jul 31st, 2002, 3:33am Hey - I posted this topic two days ago! If only people would: Quote:
;D Seriously, could you nest the dupe threads under an umbrella parent, to cut down the number of top-level topics, and marshall the wisdom into some useful hierarchy? I guess this should be under "Suggestions", but it kinda fits here too. |

Title: Re: PLEASE CHECK FOR EXISTING THREADS!!! Post by william wu on Jul 31st, 2002, 11:12am I've been trying to figure out how to merge threads in YaBB and have been unable to find such a function; I've e-mailed YaBB's creators for help. If anyone already knows how to, please send an e-mail to wwu@ocf.berkeley.edu Thanks! |

Title: Re: PLEASE CHECK FOR EXISTING THREADS!!! Post by anshil on Jul 31st, 2002, 12:09pm Well just leave the threads double and don't care too much. After all you aren't a control freak, are you? How about using something more mature than web boards? From experience I find most of the time web boards tend to attract childisch users. How about mailling lists (with a web archive), or newsgroups, or maybe something else I don't think about currently. Well BTW: the post no threads double thread, is there several times! Now so thats also a paradox :D |
