Title: Would you believe a survey if...?

Groucho Marx quotes (http://www.marx-brothers.org/info/quotes.htm)

"I sent the club a wire stating,
PLEASE ACCEPT MY RESIGNATION.
I DON'T WANT TO BELONG TO ANY CLUB
THAT WILL ACCEPT ME AS A MEMBER."

If Groucho Marx wouldn’t belong to any club that would let him be a member, would you believe a survey that would let you be part of the sample?

As long as they don't let anyone else be part of it ;)

even then, I'd be skeptical... does my approximation/understanding of the subject align with the instrument's and researcher's?

How many times did I partake in the survey?

Have you participated in any surveys? Earned money for taking online surveys?

You may wonder how reliable the answers are when the respondents are a self-selected group of anonymous volunteers.

To find out more about the motivating psychological factors behind survey participation, please read Self-determination theory (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-determination_theory). It is a theory of motivation.

This theory is concerned with such questions:

what does motivate individuals the world over to participate in surveys?
why do people take part in research and why they do not?
How to motivate someone, who has no desire to participate, to answer a survey?

A survey over thousands of voluntary participants has shown that 100% of people would participate in a survey if given the opportunity.
;)

Y'know I've considered going out on the street and doing that survey.
"Hello Sir/Madam, would you be willing to participate in my survey? Yes? Thank you, have a nice day... No, that was the only question."
