Title: To post, or not to post
Post by JiNbOtAk on Jul 21st, 2009, 4:42am
I've had the amazing luck of meeting up T&B for real last week. (something I didn't think would happen with any members, given my location). It was interesting, to say the least. We talked for hours like old friends, despite it being the first time meeting. The topics that we talked about are mostly about this forum, e.g. we tried guessing how old Grimbal really is, how many students eigenray bullied into typing his answers  ;D , we even had a brief discussion on the Icarus' affair. However, one thing that I was thinking that T&B said, was about the quantity (as well as the quality) of towr's post.

It is an escapable fact that towr still remain by far the most profilic poster in this forum. It raises the question, is there a topic on this forum which he hadn't responded to ? Can anyone find one ?

Note : To be fair to towr, topic started prior to 20th Oct 2002 should not be considered. Neither should topics with less than 2 replies, which most probably are spams.

You can easily find many in the "who am I" and "what happened" forums, and also in the "putnam" and "complex analysis" forum.

A handful from just the first page of "who am i": 1 (http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~wwu/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=what_am_i;action=display;num=1237481134),2 (http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~wwu/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=what_am_i;action=display;num=1245808248),3 (http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~wwu/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=what_am_i;action=display;num=1244084921),4 (http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~wwu/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=what_am_i;action=display;num=1243920120),5 (http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~wwu/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=what_am_i;action=display;num=1239681096)

That is not my recollection. I think that should read:
The topics that we talked about are mostly on this forum... :P God, religion, life, etc.

But then, what isn't?

How large is the margin of error in that approximation?

You seem to live in a beautiful little village at the border of a large lake ...
The internet is quickly moving towards a big brother environment. Sometimes it's frightening.

But which of those 11 parking spaces is his?  Perhaps we will know soon; Google of course obeys its own law of thermodynamics: entropy (information) is always increasing.

Isn't information the opposite of entropy? Or does that depend what field of science you take it from?

Err.. [link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entropy_in_thermodynamics_and_information_theory]yes[/link].  I knew that sounded funny when I said it.  Entropy increases when information is destroyed.
