Title: HELP!!!! need help w/ comp! Post by iono on Sep 11th, 2008, 5:26pm my computer keeps getting random BSOD, and then I cant start it up(I got 2 crashes just by checking my system BIOS, and I crashed in safe mode). I turn it on, but the monitor doesn't respond. The BSOD is the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL one, and there are others, and one that doesn't even have a message. Can someone plz help? any assistance is greatly appreaciated! |

Title: Re: HELP!!!! need help w/ comp! Post by Whiskey Tango Foxtrot on Sep 11th, 2008, 10:24pm If this is a laptop you'll probably have to take it to a shop to get fixed. Or in the worst scenario, mail it to India. It sounds like you have a desktop, though. If that is the case, have you tried starting the computer with only the hardware necessities yet? Try swapping out or removing your RAM modules and remove your graphics card if you have one. So long as you have a motherboard, CPU, and hard drive connected you can perform some basic diagnostics. If you can get online consistently by using another computer you can research your computer's model for a list of diagnostic beeps issued when problems occur in startup. This can help determine whether the problem is hardware-based (and probably not so serious in the long term) or a software/OS issue. Blue screens are very frustrating. I hope this resolves itself quickly for you. :-/ |

Title: Re: HELP!!!! need help w/ comp! Post by towr on Sep 12th, 2008, 12:21am If you crash in BIOS, then there's something seriously wrong with your computer. Did you make any hardware changes before the problem occurred? If so, try undoing them first. |

Title: Re: HELP!!!! need help w/ comp! Post by SMQ on Sep 12th, 2008, 4:54am From the symptoms you describe, I would say it's almost certainly hardware rather than software, and almost certainly fundamental -- RAM, CPU, motherboard. I don't know where you live, but if you have a Friendly Neighborhood Asian Computer Store in the area I'd take it there and ask if they would be willing to help you swap RAM, CPU, mobo to diagnose the trouble. My experience is that unlike the big chains, a FNACS is usually willing to help on the cheap. :) --SMQ |
