Would you be more likely to vote if voting were to be done by getting people to join the side you support and you can see your # of "descendants" and maybe even find out their names?

I think there's a psychological aspect to this in that you would feel that your vote(s) make a difference -- although this is almost certainly an illusion since your position in the tree is probably not critical (i.e., if you didn't get these people to join your side, other people would have).
