Would anyone help me out with downloading math typesetting program LaTex or mime Tex?

I read the instructions, it doesn't work for me.

I'm using Windows XP Pro. I'm really a novice at this. I went to

Do I need to download Miktex?

Yes, for windows miktex is the best latex version, as far as I know.

I'm trying to download MikTex from the abovementioned link, there's a step where it asks:
the Download Source -- choose your download source(listed a bunch of countries, protocols and Hosts). I don't know what to choose.

Choose the one that is closest to you geographically. Or just choose randomly.

The list for the US is long as it has many hosts, and there's FTP and HTTP. Do i choose FTP or HTTP?

The list of country, shows the nearest source, theoretically, if you download from a nearer source, the download speed would be faster. ( Personally I've never noticed any difference, even when I'm downloading something as far as America )

Like Obob said, just try either one, FTP or HTTP. You just want the files, you really don't care where you get it from. ;D
