Title: Bush Bagging

I just want to see how much people really dislike George W. Bush.

Give me your thoughts on him.

Just go take a look at the "Presidents" thread in Truth... you pretty much have it all right there, both for and against.

HAHAHAHA, I have seen those before, yet they still entertain me.  Thanks for the helpful other thread. Much appreciated.

But you are biased, aren't you?  ;)

I mean, for a different country?

Actually, I have no time for nationalism, the main cause of wars.
And the two most nationalistic, flag-waving countries on the planet are USA and China.
This does not bode well for the future.

Really? Where would you put Russia in this context?

I have not lived in Russia, but I would say that the average Russian is more concerned with obtaining a decent standard of living than with their country's global standing.

And perhaps it is more accurate to say that Americans are the most patriotic, while the Chinese are the most nationalistic.

The difference between patriotism and nationalism is that the patriot is proud of his country for what it does, and the nationalist is proud of his country no matter what it does.

Patriotism is the virtue of the vicious. - Captain John Patrick Mason ( actually it was Oscar Wilde, but I heard it first from the good captain ).

As with any quote, they are not necessarily true, however, if this fact that Americans are the most patriotic, it would explain a lot of things, the Vietnam War, invasion of Iraq.

So, Americans, how does it feel, to be a nation which is always right, always know what is best for the rest of the world, irregardless of how the others think ?  :P

I am not so sure. Besides, I think the same applies to US citizens (with word “decent” changed to something less decent). So, why do you think the Americans are more patriotic (whatever) than Russians?

Oh, and how about Englishmen?

IMHO that’s an attribute of any Empire (at least for 2000 years).

Of course, it's just that the Empire now is America, or so the Americans seems to think.  :P

You may agree or not, but America is nowadays an Empire.

Not that I'm their advocate.

I agree, any country that influences other countries in the way they do, can only be considered en empire.

Hehe, here's a joke I picked up.

Tony Blair and John Howard are in seperate cars, driving out of George Bush's arse.

Q:Why can't Tony Blair get out of George Bush's arse?
A: John Howard is in the way.
Q:Why can't John Howard get out of George Bush's arse?
A: He can't see over the steering wheel.

It's another 30 days until my birthday, so I don't know why your not referencing to my age (for once). I'm 185cm so for me to see out over a Toyota 1991 Corolla Sedan (that's the car I bought from my dad), is a little silly. I have sat in the driver's seat to reach a few things and turn on the engine once or twice (shhh, that's illegal)  ::).

Wow, that is tall for your age. I remember the average age for UK men used to be only 5'8", 1.73m.
However, some sheilas believe it is better to have loved a short man than never to have loved a tall.

I like that quote.  :D, Just think, I was in the front row of all my photos for school until 4 years ago, now I'm back row centre (or 1/2 people away from it).

Anyway, thank God we have Prescient Bush, who actually saw the first plane hit (http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=dbc_1188804768) WTC before the rest of us!

Well I have yet to meet anybody who really fits that discription as I am just shy of 5'10".  At least if they're super tall I can get away with wearing heels without intimidating them.  ;D

I'll have to do a little research to double check about when that tape was released... :-/ because I specifically remember hearing about it first on the radio driving on my way to a class I was taking for fun and then watching the footage and replay on TV, because the teacher decided to turn on the news instead of proceeding with the lesson. Maybe my mind is going with age ::) but I generally remember time sequences with frightening accuracy...

The footage they mean will be that from an amateur documentary that was being made about the Fire Department, and which just happened to catch the first plane as it first flew noisily overhead and then crashed into the North Tower, the first to be hit but the second to fall, probably because it was hit higher up. I doubt if the first thing they did was rush the stuff over to CNN for Bush to watch while waiting for his photo-opportunity with the schoolkids.
