Title: Harry Potter

I didn't want to pollute the other thread.

But you can guess the end.  (warning: spoiler)
[hide]Dumbledore will be back as Dumbledore the White.
He will explain that Voldemort never tried to kill Harry, he just implanted a horcrux into him.  The famous scar.  That is why to kill Voldemort, Harry must die.

So Peter Jackson's writing book 7?

Title: Re: Harry Potter
Post by Grimbal on Apr 20th, 2007, 9:10am
Or maybe he will come in spirit form, advising in a hollow voice: "May the Curse be with you!"

Actually, Rowling has denied that Harry dies in the last book.

I definitely agree about Dumbledore coming back, though. Rowling used this same trick in the first book.

Post by JiNbOtAk on Apr 20th, 2007, 8:12pm
If I'm not mistaken, Rowling had also denied Dumbledore coming back. Dumbledore is definitely dead, Harry's parents are definitely dead, while Sirius is..controversial.

Who thinks Harry will marry Ginny at the end of book 7 ??

p/s : I thought all the hocruxes are accounted for ?

Sirius died, and from book 2 i knew voldemort didnt try to kill harry, just to use him as a spy to learn secrets of the ministary and stuff so he could rule the world! mwhahaha!

When reading the first books, I thought that obviously Harry Potter would end up as the new Head of Hogwarts, replacing Dumbledore.

Well, the position is vacant.  :)

the Largest question is: Who is ( or was going to be) the 7th defense against the dark arts teacher?

I think she's been grooming Hermione for that position.

Maybe she'll get Harry back to Hogwart's by having him fill the role... :P

Are you even sure Hogwarts would be open in Book 7 ?
If yes, who's the next Headmaster / Headmistress ?
If it's Minerva McGonagall, who'll be the next Transfiguration teacher ?

Maybe Hermione would end up as the Transfiguration teacher, while Neville Longbottom would take on Defense Against the Dark Arts..  :P

1. The postition is not vacant, McGonagall is the headmisstress.

2.Dumbledore the white?!

3. Harry already looked for every magical loophole that could bring Dumbledore back as a spirit/ghost thing, so, unless Rowling has a suprise for us....

4. The DADA teacher depends on whether or not Hogwarts is staying open

5. All but one horcrux have been accounted for:
i) The diary (destroyed)
ii) Marvolo's ring (destroyed)
iii) Nagini
iv) Hufflepuff's cup
v) The locket
vi) Voldemort

The seventh is unspecified, apparently something of either Gryffindor's or Ravenclaw's

Wait. So Voldemort is one of his own Horcruxes? (or whatever the plural is)

Wiki's list is:

1) Riddle's Diary (confirmed, destroyed)
2) Marvolo's Ring (confirmed, destroyed)
3) Slytherin's (speculative) Locket (confirmed, taken by RAB, possibly destroyed)
4) HufflePuff's Cup (speculative)
5) Nagini (speculative, but highly plausible)
6) Unknown relic of Gryffindor or Ravenclaw (speculative)
7) Unknown

As for DADA, if it's Harry, he'll be the first repeat DADA teacher since Voldemort was refused the post...

Title: Re: Harry Potter
Post by Three Hands on Jun 11th, 2007, 8:10am
Couple of things. Firstly, if I recall the details correctly, Minerva McGonagall is currently Acting Headmistress, rather than officially taking over the post. A meeting of the school governers would be required (I believe) to appoint a new headteacher.

Secondly, Harry has not been an officially appointed DADA teacher, he just happened to be the instructor in a (completely illegal) student club focussing on further study of Defence Against the Dark Arts. So, officially at least, he would not be the first repeat teacher.

If there are no part of Voldermort's mangled soul in his new body, how could he exist ??

I still like Neville as the next DADA teacher..  :P

I quite like the idea of Voldemort (in some form or other) being the new DADA teacher. The whereabouts of the remaining hocruxes could somehow fit in...

JiNbOtAk, yes, there are six horcruxes, the seventh part of Voldemort's soul is inside him.

No, if you had one of the books, you would have read in the back that Rowling already outlined every book over 5 years; she's finished writing the 7th.

I know that - I was just responding to the previous poster's "plot summary"

Anyone know this Gabriel (http://seclists.org/fulldisclosure/2007/Jun/0380.html) guy ? Maybe someone could give credence to his theory ?

Title: Re: Harry Potter
Post by Three Hands on Jun 25th, 2007, 6:33am
I'd be more impressed if his spelling/grammar was better, and he could provide evidence beyond hearsay and vague speculation. If he's actually hacked an electronic copy of the book, then it would be far more convincing if he showed a chapter or two of evidence.

Don't know who he is, and don't know whether he is correct or not, but I believe the actual book will be a lot more worthwhile reading than his summary...

Here's an interesting spoiler theory presented in an amusing manner...

The link above takes you to the transcript of Keith Olbermann's report, but there's a link on the right side of the page: "Harry Potter and the mystery of the leaked plot" to play the video of the report.

Heh, 3 days to the launch of the new book, I think I can hold on that long and not give in to the temptation of looking up spoilers.  :P

Spoiler:
[hide]In the end, Harry Potter, by way of deus ex machina, saves the day! And Gryffindor is awarded tons of points for no particularly good reason whatsoever.[/hide]

[hide]At least it's very likely that'll be what spoils it.[/hide]

If JK Rowling had really wanted to make sure no one would be able to read the book until the official publication date, she should have had the book printed in encrypted form, and only given out the key to the encryption after official publication.

Title: Re: Harry Potter
Post by Grimbal on Jul 20th, 2007, 1:44am
More practically, she sells the book without revealing in which language it is written.

On July 21, she reveals: it is ... English!  :P

I'm sure that some reports of leaked books are just for sustaining the hype.

BTW, it's hidden in case any of you havn't finished the book yet.

About the best comment I've heard thus far was "JK Rowling dies!"

Guess it would be one way of avoiding the cries for a sequel, though ::)

Finished reading it, at last ! Before the critics swarm in, let me just say I Love It !! ( Btw, Gabriel is a fraud )

Major spoiler : [hide]Hehe, you seriously think I'm gonna give you one ? Read the book !![/hide]

Erh...  well, it is true, I didn't finish it 29 minutes after it was released.  :-[

But thanks for "for the first time in his life".

And it probably would have happened if the ending was as stupid as "Harry wakes up and it was all a dream"
