That's true. But maybe somebody will be retroactively sick of it.

Truth is, most of these puzzles are solved ... for reasonable people!

For most of these, there is a simple solution - if you are sick of a puzzle, just ignore it. (I know - it's like picking at a scab. You know you shouldn't do it, but it itches too much to leave it alone.) I am more bothered by those who demand that if they themselves are not interested in an exchange, it should never happen.

On the other hand, it would be nice if newbies did not keep posting the same few puzzles over and over again. I don't blame them - they don't have the wherewithal yet to know how to find the previous threads. Maybe the availability of the search function and suggestions on how to use it could be made more visible.

However, of all the problem puzzles on the site, to my mind the worst is the one that not only keeps being posted over and over and over again, but is invariably mistated. So the puzzle is nothing more than a bald-faced lie, with its intended solution(s) irreconcilable with what was actually said. That puzzle is of course "Three words that end in GRY".

Yup. That's exactly what I voted for and why. Although I was very tempted to vote for the 100 prisoners problem, for which I had recently received a phenomenal 100 day solution via e-mail. It only works if prisoners are allowed to commit suicide. The e-mailer goes so far as to parenthesize possible ways of committing suicide: "(by sticking fingers in light socket or biting their wrists till they bleed to death etc ...)"

What a scary imagination some people have!  :o

Anything badly named, got my vote. Like Icarus's proverbial scab you just have to have a peek at the "I bet you can't solve this!" thread. I can't remember the last time I ever read such a thread and thought to myself, "Cor, I'm really glad I read this." In my view, lack of imagination/originality with thread title has so far equated to the same with the quality of the puzzle.

Even though I rarely look at it, I am most sick of .999, but like badly named riddles and most of the others on the list I am not often tempted to read them.  I read new posts to 100 Prisoners because there is still a good unsolved problem there, but most of the time it is somebody else suggesting some solution that bypasses the intent of the question (and has been given by others before).  So I'd say 100 Prisoners is most frustrating to me.

I am tired of seeing Hamming distance and Cigarettes Clique always stuck at the top of the page when the combination of those two threads has received a total of two new posts since January: an erroneous solution and a somebody pointing out the error.
