Title: Guess the sequence Post by rmsgrey on Dec 17th, 2005, 4:47am 1, 8, 72, 46, 521, 612, 343, 215... What are the next few terms, and/or the rule for generating the sequence? (it may be worth skipping the tenth term to avoid giving too much away) |

Title: Re: Guess the sequence Post by Grimbal on Dec 19th, 2005, 12:42am Are we going to start a thread whether ...0001 = 1 or not ? |

Title: Re: Guess the sequence Post by rmsgrey on Dec 19th, 2005, 2:50am The last step in generating a term of the sequence is clearly dealing with the number as a symbol string rather than a value. As symbol strings, ...0001 and 1 are clearly different. Reinterpreting the string as a value is introducing an additional step - it's still a valid sequence, but less simple, so not as good. |

In that case, completing the sequence given the terms provided (without the tenth term), is a highly ambiguous task. |
