Title: Two Solids
Post by THUDandBLUNDER on Jan 31st, 2005, 1:13pm
Two solids, a triangular pyramid and a square pyramid with a square base and four triangular sides, have edges that are all 1 metre long. If the models are placed together with a triangular face of each coinciding, how many faces does the resulting figure have?

Aarrgggh..!!  >:(  ;D It took me some 15 attempts to get the ASCII art correctly represented...  ???  (I had to.... as one cannot hide a JPG it had to be a character-based picture.)

Funny to see that in the original thread no one came up with the idea to fold open the resulting polyhedron. I think the problem is surprisingly trivial if you do so in the correct way...

Nice little problem by the way...
