Title: Target Practice (in your head) Post by Noke Lieu on Dec 8th, 2004, 7:42pm Yes, you could very quickly find the answer with silicon help. Where's the fun in that? (oh, there it is) Just a simple couple, couldn't find a trace of them, but that's search function for you. Willy Wutang goes to a fair. Nasty, number fiddling carnie folk everywhere. Walks up to a shooting gallery. Has a target: 16\_____/17 | 39 | 23/ _ \24 As many shots as he likes... The aim is to get a sum of 100. Else goto stair master (http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~wwu/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=riddles_easy;action=display;num=1084254000) Seems that Langford Numbers have somehow escaped? Okay, nice and easy... make sure there is one digit between two 1s, two digits between two 2s, three between 3s etc. so n=3 looks like 312132. What does 5 look like? Pen and paper only, squires, until you're ready to submit the answer. |

Title: Re: Target Practice (in your head) Post by Icarus on Dec 9th, 2004, 8:52am I'm not sure I understand the situation for "target practice". The target appears to have 7 regions. 5 have the values 16, 17, 23, 24, 39. Of the other two regions, one is empty and one has a "-". Presumably the empty region is 0 points, but what is with the "-"? |
