The next 10 are ::[hide]6,6,8,8,7,7,9,[/hide]9[hide]8,8,6[/hide]::

Assuming the two sequences are the same, of course...

A typo, rmsgrey? Your third from the last must be >[hide]8[/hide]<

Maybe it was not the same series, after all?

Nope, Methuselah is right, I did get it wrong... My own fault for trying to take short-cuts rather than calculating each term directly...

So is the next term (after the ones I already gave) ::[hide]9[/hide]:: or ::[hide]10[/hide]::?

There are two sequences (including and excluding non-letters);
worse yet, neither is well-defined starting from 109.

I would say the 100th term is a problem already.

Also I believe that Americans would say, "one hundred one", rather than "one hundred and one".

"one hundred (and) one" can be remedied in one of the sequences by assuming that & stands for "and" and that it is not a letter (although it used to be considered one). But the fun is lost.
