Well, since you ask so nicely, and post it in far too many boards (where I promptly removed them from), I'll give you a hint for 1)
The alphabet goes abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwyz

Well, it may depend on what language you're looking at ::)
And on how tired you are :P

2.  12 - the number of factors (including itself and 1)

OK, so it's not one of the multiple choice, but nor is 59...

For 3., I'd complain that two of the answers are ambiguous - 17, since it is used twice, and 18, since it is not used. That said, the question couldbe interpreted as "all uses of the number ..." or "The individual use of the given number" - problems which would not arise with better question setting, or by only using each number once in the sequence.

He is a mathematician.  X is unknown to him.

A little behind the times, but I thought it might be nice to provide the "official" answers, since not everyone is as experienced as the jokers above, and kokrocks did ask:

1) [hide](c) M is the fifth letter after H, U is the fifth letter after P.[/hide]
2) [hide](d) 60/40 = 3/2.[/hide]
3) [hide](b) The series repeatedly goes down by 4, then up by 7. Except that the first 17 should be 18 to match the pattern.[/hide]
