The Evil King imprisons a fair maiden in his dungeon. There are 2 doors that she can go thru to escape. One door leads to certain death, the other to safety and freedom. Inside with her are 2 guards, one ALWAYS lies and can't tell the truth. The other is trustworthy, and cannot tell a lie. The maiden does not know which is which, and can't find out. The King allows her one question to help determine which door to choose. What one (1) question can she ask of either guard and be certain that she can choose the door to freedom. Choose your question wisely.

Fork in the road huh? Close but no cigar. the answer involves using a double negative.

In what way is this different? In both you have two choices, one bad, one good, and two people to ask the question of, one always lies, one always tells the truth, and the task is the same: ask one question which will cause either person to reveal the good choice.

The only differences between these two puzzles are superficial. The same solutions (there are multiple ways to go about it - the double negative solution can also be found in the Fork In the Road riddle threads) work for both.

Guess I didn't look at enough responses. Asking Which was would he tell me to go or which is the right way to go seems variable to me. But as you mentioned, they are similar. My apologies. Which door is NOT the door to death?

A couple solutions which may be found in the other thread:
1) "Which door would the other guy say leads to death?"
2) "If I asked you what door leads to escape, what would you answer?"

Both work here just fine.

The answer here is slightly different from the fork in the road because there, the truthful guy and the liar come from their own village. That makes it so you can't ask which door they came from and thus, solving the riddle. I am still unsure of the answer myself.

This one is indeed different from the Fork In The Road I puzzle but is equivalent to the Fork In The Road II puzzle (http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~wwu/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=riddles_hard;action=display;num=1040866272)
