Title: Last 4 -5 moves - chess
Post by Lightboxes on Sep 15th, 2003, 11:50am
I tried to make another one with less conditions.

None of the pieces have been capture in the last 8 moves.
What are the last 4 moves?
What are the only two units that can move on the 5th last move?

The position must have been as below. The moves were:
[hide]
1.......  Nf3+
2. Rh4  Ng1+
3. Bf3+

In the position below White's previous move must have been either

1. R on f3 to f2
OR
1. P on f3 to f4
[/hide]
Nice one, Lightboxes!

Awesome job!
I'm just glad your solution is the same as mine.
I hope there is only those possibilities.

But why the stipulation that no pieces have been captured in the last 8 moves?

It was just easier for me to make it.  Since it was one of my first.
I guess most of the pieces that are missing would have been captured and pawned (reaching the other side) to explain the arrangement of pawns (black and white).  But I didn't want to think too much on it.
