I'm primarily a wave
and when flown on a ship
I tell of a watery grave

I'm seen in the faces
of very long tunnels
to top secret places

Seen in old ladies hair
and seen on the young
with the bottoms they wear

None of the above.

Side note: I have just begun my third and final practicum for my bachelor of ed. I may not be able to visit very often or with any predictability. I'll try though!

cheesepuff is closest with his answer of white, although, iono's answer  of light isn't too far off either...

One more week of practicum, then a "Transition to Professional Practice" (T2P) for two weeks, and as of May 1, I am a free person again!

I loved that manga. Never got around to actually watching the episodes though. I mean, it's like 400 episodes long. (so far)

From the flag hint Bravo, Juliet, and Lima would all seem to fit the first part.  I don't see how they would relate to the second two, though.

Blue makes a lot of sense.

Seen in the faces of very long tunnels (people hold their breath while going through tunnels so they turn blue).

The last portion is most definitely blue. Old ladies hair can turn blue when they get it dyed white. Blue jeans.

I don't know what to say about the first part... The ocean is blue (watery grave), but I don't know how you can fly blue on a ship...

Checkered blue is a distress flag. Undecided

And so we have the answer, blue.

The first part is about a ship and flags. It was tradition to fly a blue flag on a ship as it came to port when one or more of the crew had died at sea.

The third part codpro880 has figured out, with old ladies hair and blue jeans.

The second part seems to remain a mystery... Any takers?
