I will be offline for a while as I rebuild the hardware and reinstall all of the applications on my new computer ( this could take a day or much longer ). So I leave you with this lighthearted whimsical riddle just for fun... a traditional form of "what am I" riddle Peacock frippery on my high-plumed horse, Ridiculing humility with nary remorse; Insolent, ostentatious, supercilious airs, Devising veneers out of arrogant stares; Enameled from all that I see, touch and feel, lucid critique is my Achilles' heel. What am I?

For some reason, "The Emperor's New Clothes" keeps appearing in my mind as I read this.

I should spend a half an hour with my dictionary to understand this one, so I'm not even going to try.

| Loose TRANSLATION (okay, I haven't taken my computer apart yet.) Peacock frippery on my high-plumed horse, fancy dandyism on my plumed, high horse, Ridiculing humility with nary remorse; putting down humble actions without any regrets, Insolent, ostentatious, supercilious airs, egotistical, puffed-up, highfalutin poser-charades, Devising veneers out of arrogant stares; planning protective emotional defenses from “superior-to-you” looks, Enameled from all that I see, touch and feel, armored from my surroundings and emotions; lucid critique is my Achilles' heel. astute commentary that “takes me down a notch” is my only weakness Hint :: There are three approaches to solving this riddle :: Can you find all three?

I think it's at least related to pride but I don't think that's the final answer. I would say it's arrogance, but that word's already mentioned in the riddle.

NO, You're right Cathos! I didn't say this one was that difficult. So, which way did you figure it out?

'Cause the whole thing reeks of pride - just an overall feeling.

Excellent... it's supposed to, but I also put in a couple of short cut methods to figuring it out. "To ride before the river's ledge" Pride goes before a fall Peacock frippery on my high-plumed horse, Ridiculing humility with nary remorse; Insolent, ostentatious, supercilious airs, Devising veneers out of arrogant stares; Enameled from all that I see, touch and feel, lucid critique is my Achilles' heel. don't trip
