A turnkey has a riddle for his new young apprentice. In the store, he places three keys on the desk and asks him: “Which key is a spare key that opens the door to the store? You have the right to use one key only to try to open the door. I’ll give you a clue: there is a way to be sure. If you answer correctly I’ll give you the spare key and a raise.” Happy puzzling!

Is there any relevant visible difference between the keys? Like, is one a bicycle-lock key; or one all rusty an obviously never used? Or are two the same?
