A man wakes up on an alien flying saucer. He has no memory of this place. The silver cubical room he is in is empty. There is one closed door that leads to another room. He twists a door knob to open the door. At that moment, while the door is still shut, he hears no sound, yet he knows w/o a doubt that there will be a clock inside the room he is about to enter. But how?!

The way the riddle is worded I guess the answer is valid. Yet I am not THAT shallow. Am I? No. Definitely not the answer I am looking for. It's an oak door w/o any glass.

He heard a sound of the clock ticking before twisting the door handle.

The door has a big label that says "clock repair workshop". Or more seriously: The man was sleepwalking. He was dreaming the flying saucer. In the dark he couldn't see much anyway. But when touching the familiar door knob he came back to his senses and he recognized his bedroom. Now he is awake and he knows there is a clock in the other room. Or simpler: He is carrying a clock.

Because the explanation that you are sleepwalking is much more likely to be true than the explanation that you are in a flying saucer carrying a clock around (not a watch). So from a bayesian point of view the sleepwalking explanation is the one you should bet on. And then you are an alien, so who knows? But still. Humans that pretend to be aliens are much more common on forums than actual aliens. So I would still bet on the first explanation.

| I am interested to see the data to support the assertion.

Yeah. You tell him dudiobugtron. And solve the Twenty-twenty riddle. Next he's going to say is that there ARE no aliens. I demand an apology!
