Michael, Edward and William are reminiscing in a bar. Current topic of their conversation is their eccentric friend Chico, who will join them soon. William asks: “How old is Chico?” Michael answers: “He is 47 years old.” Edward says: “Nah. He is 48 years old.” They were both right. How is that possible?

Chico spent a year in a box with a cat. He both lived and did not live during that year.

This answer is certainly complex, and it made me laugh, but I needn’t tell you that it is also incorrect.

According to the traditional chinese way of calculating the age, a person is born with age 1 and adds one every chinese new year. So, a baby that is 2 days can be considered as 2 years old. So a person can well be 48 on the chinese calendar and 47 on the gregorian calendar. With space travel and relativity, it is not clear what is "now" in remote places. So whether the time where a person far far away celebrates his 48th birthday is in the past or the future relative to some point in space-time depends on the speed of the reference. It could be in the past for one person and in the future for another person that is walking by.
