Baseball math

In a major league baseball game, a pitcher faced only 27 batters. Every batter he faced, he struck out. He allowed no hits and no runs, yet his team lost 4-0. How could this be?

One simple possibility: The game went scoreless through the 9th; he was relieved in the 10th and the relief pitcher gave up four runs. --SMQ

That seems like the biggest possibility, since he only faced 27 batters. That, or it's something to do with the rules of baseball, and the batters got a "walk" or whatever it is, and stole bases to win.

There is another obvious possibility that doesn't require extra innings. He came in as relief after the starter gave up 4 runs and got no outs. if he struck out every batter he faced, then he didn't walk anyone.

He got into lots and lots of fights. 27 of them to be exact. He won all the fights, but his team had already lost. Plus, the police want to have a word with him now
