Detective Jonathan had always been sure that Jack had killed David, but he did not have enough evidence to prove it. So one day, he calls Jack to his office and asks him to sit down. As Jack was about to sit, Jonathan picked up the paper weight from his table and threw it at Jack. Soon after Jack was behind the bars for the murder of David. What happened?

He caught the paperweight. He was actually not suspected of killing David because his hand/finger/arm had been broken and was unable to handle a gun Or his alibi was that he was in the hospital for breaking his arm Anyways this is like Charlie's Angels

No. I would say that cheesepuff is extremely close to the intended answer. Jack caught the paper weight and that was what Jonathan wanted.. But why?
