A man took a gun out of his pocket and killed himself. But an another man was arrested and put in jail for his death. What happened?

Wouldn't a more pictorial answer be: the arrested man changed a toy gun for a loaded one in a theater play ?

Because he didn't help him. You can get arrested for not helping somebody. Perhaps he had an electroshock weapon.

He asked for his help, but he refused, so he killed himself because he was desperate.
Or there were his fingerprints on the gun. The guy who committed suicide had gloves. It didn't look like a suicide to the police.

Well, there's also cheesepuff, JohanC and gotit. But Iceman definitely has the most guesses.
I could guess something if it'll make you feel better. It will be wrong, of course, but I suppose that doesn't make me worse off than all the others that have guessed wrongly. The second man used telekinesis or mind-control to make the first shoot himself.

In "What happened" one would expect at least a partial acceptance of a good answer, even if it isn't the pre-thought one. Except, of course, if the intended answer is much better...
Anyway, another guess:
the guilty man threatened to torture and kill the complete family of the other guy unless he killed himself.
Or, still another one:
the guilty man poisoned the other guy with a substance leading very slowly to a very certain but very painful dead, giving the other one only the option to kill himself to avoid further suffering.
Or, while we're at it:
the guilty man is a very competent hypnotist who convinced the other one to kill himself.

The man who got arrested was the one who reported the murder to the always suspicious police. He took the weapon from victim's hands, thus there were his fingerprints on the gun. This looked like an undisputed evidence to the judge.
