Armored Knight

In a museum, someone wearing an armored suit killed another person. It was caught on video with no audio. The armored man pushed the other person against the wall. The man being attacked then grabbed a nameplate from the wall as the knight went to grab his sword. The man being attacked scribbled something on it and threw the pen away, and started looking around. He was then stabbed. The police arrested the person whose name was written. However, a detective called to the scene saw the video, did a little bit of investigating, and released the arrested man. Why?

Because he found out the man he had arrested had an airtight alibi.

Because the arrested man had a limited range of motion and could not possibly have performed the motions made by the man in the suit of armour.

the pen wasn't working which is why he threw it away and was looking around for another one. The name on the nameplate was already there before the murdered man picked it up from the wall.

I'm really not convinced at Conan's logic there though. A thrown pen can easily land on its end and switch from retracted to open or vice versa. And any person, whether he's about to die or not, may simply retract the point out of habit. Who's going to think "Oh well, I'm going to die, let's not get stuck in old habits"?
But such is the nature of detective series, I guess.
