The fugitive 4

It is Wild West and Billy is wanted dead or alive. So at one particular occasion, as he was strolling, if he hadn’t tripped over, he would’ve died. What happened? Mind you, there was nobody or anything dangerous nearby.

I have an idea. But I'm afraid if I give it, Iceman will accept it as a better answer and never give the intended answer. What can i do?

I would guess by tripping he found something he might otherwise have missed.

I deleted my reply just before Grimbal’s, because it had no sense. I don’t remember what I was thinking then and there. Perhaps I’m finally starting to melt, so some woman can jump on me and get pregnant after the assault. In any case, I thought it might be important to mention this. Now I'm curious to know Grimby's answer.. Anyway, Billy tripped and fell down, dislocating a hip bone. He was admitted into a hospital, which saved him from being shot by the bounty hunters.

He wasn't damaged like that. It hurt only for a moment or two, and then he regained all of his functions.

A log fell from the tree. If he hadn't tripped over, it would have hit his head.

No. I said that there was nothing dangerous nearby, so only he fell. He was lucky though.

| All the more reason to use it, it's much more fun !! He tripped and fell on top of one of his bounty hunters, who is lying in waiting to shoot him. Due to his obese form, the bounty hunter was crushed to death.

Billy had a camera hidden in his clothes. The police was chasing Billy and using the camera to keep track of his location. He tripped over and the camera broke. And the police lost track of him.

Okay, my idea was that he was in the desert, was thirsty like hell, he tripped and felt wet ground. He dug and quickly found some water.

Well, an obvious situation would be this: A time traveler wanted to become rich by placing a single dollar on an account in the very first bank to open in the west. But when he entered the bank, he tripped and accidentally shot the clerk, who happened to be his own ancestor. Due to this the said ancestor died without having any children and therefore, centuries later, Billy never actually came to live, let alone die. So, without tripping, he would have lived (and rich) and he would have died. Epilogue: Due to his non-existence and the fact that he still managed to do what was perceived as the first bank robbery in the west, he became a legend, known as Billy the Kid.
