Lonely hearts
« on: Apr 8th, 2008, 7:21am »
Quote Quote Modify Modify

Detective Somerset is investigating a murder case in Belmond, and all evidence shows that this is the 4th victim. The victim’s name is Crystal, and the killer put notes in her hands 'find me Somerset' and 'lonely hearts'.  The prior cases were Belinda in Altmar, Denise in Carthage and Amanda in Deposit.

The killer is nicknamed hairdresser, because he always takes curl of hair as a souvenir.

So Somerset is thinking about the case, and then it hits him, so the killer is pretty soon located and arrested. How? Mind you, it wasn't because the killer was sloppy and the detective didn't find additional objects.

You’ve noticed an important part Cool Pex. Stay on it, if you dare.

Btw, you’re allowed to invent stories here, in order to try to find out which story fits the best.

I have noticed another thing. All the victims are female. May be all of them, at some point of time, had been the killer's girlfriend and had betrayed him. Undecided

As for the killer, he could be a barber who was himself bald. Wink

Or maybe the pattern in which hair was removed from the victims' head spelt out his name.

Has it got smething to do with Raymond Fernandez and Martha Beck, who were called the "lonely hearts killers"? May be this killer seduced the girls, made love to them and then killed them. In that case, its just a matter of simple DNA testing

Somerset realized that the next murder will take place in Altmar( the place where it all started, since this will complete a cycle). The victim will be a lonely girl whose name starts with B and probably whose hair style matches the four other victims.

Not bad, but he was arrested before the possibility of another murder.

He called the staff of the matchmaking website "Lonely Hearts"(www.LonelyHearts.com) and checked who dated these 4 girls.

I hope you don't like the answer, because then you will never give the intended answer, if there is one.

You’re definitely on the right track, together with pex. Yes, he did date them, but he called them, and not vice versa. He was careful about it, or at least, about that particular part. After all, a part of him, evidently, wanted Somerset to catch him.

Btw, the police cannot just enter his home because of a hunch. No, even though you get the idea right, we still need a valid reason for the police to tear down his doors and search the house. Perhaps if you put your ideas together you’ll get the answer.

After finding the person's name in Grimbal's website, Somerset noticed the the person's name had the same relation with his place of residence as the victims' name had with theirs.(as mentioned by Pex)

Well, there is the usual trick to hide a little bag with white powder in his pocket.

This is very close, but what would his name be after 5th murder? But you’re right, this was ABC murder.

Btw, I dunno much about insertion advertisement, but the answer, evidently, revolves around it.

Well, his add, or whatever you call it, in the section lonely hearts, started with ABC. He included his full name and address. Like I said, I don’t know much about insertion advertisement, & sometimes my riddles are not that good. Later.

Just when I managed to get one right, and you start saying your riddles are not that good.  Angry

Anyway, having read the A.B.C. Murders, this riddle is kinda obvious.

I wasn’t criticizing you I was criticizing me. Sometimes you take things a bit too personal.

Yup. That TV episode with Poirot inspired me. I just had to become the plagiarist.
