Two Trains and a Mountain

A railway is being built through a mountain, but the tunnel can only be made wide enough for a single track. Two trains heading in opposite directions go through the tunnel at 7 o'clock, but they do not crash. What happened?

You can make it double decker tracks with one train track over another one that won't affect the width.

No double decker tracks here... just a regular, run of the mill train track...

If two trains enter the same narrow tunnel from opposite sides, the air will be trapped in between. The pressure will increase in front of the trains and slow them down sensibly, enough to alarm the drivers that something is wrong.

You can only believe i what you can prove, and since you have nothing proven to cmpare to, you can believe in nothing.
I have ~50 posts to hack a "R" into a "D". Which one?

They hit the brakes. Or they don’t crash because the tunnel collapses.

| Ah, but it was Denis who came up with it first, was it not? It is easy to recognize a correct answer and agree with it. Much more difficult to come up with the correct answer on your own.

| Ah yes, I have this problem too sometimes. Reading a riddle and going "Oh! I know this one!" and as I read along, the answer has already been posted...

in the spirit of this place, finding alternative answers that still work.. The tunnel runs between two time zones. One train enters at 7pm, and leaves at 6.30pm, half an hour later the other train enters.

Me too. How about this: The guy keeping track of the time read the clock wrong because he was drunk or something and put down seven o clockinstead of eight like he was supposed to.
