Death's-head Hawkmoth

After the Janis case, which is clearly a part of detective's fame, Somerset is up against another challenge. It's the newest murder case of a woman, and everything indicates that she was killed by the killer nicknamed Chucky. Her body was found in the river, and the police couldn't make a positive ID, because the computer didn't pop out anything and her face was skinned. There were two notes, one in each hand. One said 'I want to complete my masterpiece. Do you know what it is, Somerset?' The other was 'I want you to find me, detective.' The body was thoroughly examined in the lab, and following objects were found in her stomach: death's-head Hawkmoth, which is killer's trademark, and the Mars symbol, both in a little balloon. The symbol is referring to the male sex. Somerset and Chucky were dancing like this for several years now, as almost every time a woman was killed, the killer left a note to the detective, and always a thrutful one. The 1st note ever said 'Hello, detective Somerset. I know you're thinking of me, because you are investigating my work. I'm thinking of you as well. You will be my liberator.' The 2nd note said 'I've put a souvenir under my skin, the Venus symbol.' And from a few notes the detective concluded, and rightfully so, that this was murderer's last misdeed. He also inferred that the killer wants to change, transform, although he wasn't sure into what exactly. The detective thought about it for some time, and then it hit him, and he realized where the culprit is. Mind you, it wasn't because the killer was sloppy. From the information that was given, can you explain it?

He found that the mars symbol is one-of-a-kind, and there is a complimentary venus symbol, both bought by the same guy from a highly publicized auction, so he just arrested the guy who owns the venus symbol?

Care to elaborate? I'm simply not sure what exactly you're trying to suggest, and that means something.

No ideas, eh? I find that interesting because earlier few guesses were kind of on the right track. Maybe this is just the case of riddler's myopia.

May be the killer was suffering from a disease in which the person starts developing traits of the opposite sex.

Somerset is looking at the body of the killer. Chucky is the latest victim. (The killer is a woman, after a sex change, and she/he committed suicide).

Is the Venus symbol put under the skin referring to a tattoo?

| The killer wasn’t suffering from a physical disease. on Apr 9th, 2008, 8:40am, denis wrote:Somerset is looking at the body of the killer. Chucky is the latest victim. (The killer is a woman, after a sex change, and she/he committed suicide). |
| Well, this is certainly close, but there was no sex change. So, who was the killer? Btw, it is pretty hard to skin your own face, no matter how crazy you are. on Apr 9th, 2008, 11:36am, Azgard wrote:Is the Venus symbol put under the skin referring to a tattoo? |

The killer was a doctor who specialized in sex change. And after performing the sex change, he/she killed his/her patients and cut their body parts as a souvenir.

| You practically got it, but you need to polish your answer a bit, or a lot. It depends how meticulous you are. And let me say again: no sex change, no hermaphrodites, and I don’t know what.

Why would he have a tattoo of a skull on his chest? Perhaps he had something under his skin instead.

No skin grafting either. So the killer must be....... who then? You know, it looks to me that you’re a slave to stereotype. Stereotype is fine as long as it doesn’t interfere with a riddle.
