A Skydiving Arrest

As a police officer, you are always on the lookout for conspicuous behavior. On this particular day you are standing at the landing area for local skydivers. There is only one skydiving plane in the area. The weather is perfectly clear and no meteorological or geological events occur. The skydiving plane never deviates from its path and there is no structural damage to the plane. One person, fully clothed and in good health, coasts into the landing zone alone and makes a perfect landing. Even though you have never seen him before and he has no record of previous criminal activity, you immediately arrest him. Why?

I changed the riddle just for you Jinbotak. Also, he has not inspected the plane Arabhyatta. I guess I should rewrite this a bit. I don't usually do these.

The main restriction on Skydiving is weight. Most drop zones will not allow anyone over 110kg to jump for safety reasons. Perhaps this fellow was well over 110kg but still in good health (a football player for example). Or perhaps the skydiver was under the minimum age limit of 16 years old.

I guess I don't know enough about skydiving. Assume this diver was certified.

Hmmm...Someone who coasted and makes a perfect landing could have landed with a helicopter or glider instead of landing with a parachute. Definitely a no-no at a skydiving drop zone.

He was smoking when he made the dive. Everybody knows that the landing area is a strictly non-smokingarea.

The direction from which the skydiver coasted in suggests he jumped from the skyscraper rather than the skydiving plane. Skydiving from buildings is illegal in most jurisdictions.

Denis got it. I had originally thought of a BASE jump from one of the huge TV antennae. The idea is the same, though. He was arrested for trespassing.

Another alternative: Half an hour earlier, the airplane of the skydiving club has been stolen.

1 more possibility: The "landing" may not have been from the sky at all. If the area was close to water, it is possible that someone sailed to the area and stopped perfectly on the beach, making a perfect "landing". However, since this was a restricted area, the guy was charged with trespassing.

| It isn't much of a riddle if it doesn't contain enough information to be solved without adding things to it anyway. If you disagree then you'll likely enjoy this riddle, what law am I thinking of that some imaginary person broke?

| That depends on whether what has to be added easily follows from what is given; and since there are few types of skydiving -- basically either from planes or buildings -- it's not that much of a stretch. Besides which, a lot of riddles depend on finding out what piece of information was missing and in light of which things make sense. I'm sure you know the riddle where a man walks into the bar, orders a glass of water, then the barman pull out his gun, and the man says thanks and leaves. It's a typical "what happened" riddle. Now, the crucial bit of information missing -- the very thing you need to find out -- is that the man had the hiccups.

| Okay, I'll grant you that it depends on whether what has to be added easily follows from what's been given. In this case I thought it didn't, but perhaps I'm just not familiar enough with skydiving. I wasn't aware that people sometimes skydive off of buildings, I'd only heard of it being done off of cliffs and out of planes. Apologies to the OP for my earlier sarcasm.
