Knocking on heavens door

You are a rather short person, and proud because of it. How would you close the most quickly, and by yourself, several standard doors, which are designed to be closed manually? Mind you, the weather is 100% fair.

Pushing generally does the trick with doors I know.. (Or pulling if you come from the other side; even if you can't pull the handle, you can give them enough momentum by pulling the side and get your hand out of the way before it closes.)

Create a vacuum inside the room. The doors will close by themselves. or Open the windows inside the room, making it easier to close the doors.

Are you talking about the bolts. Well, in my country standard doors have two bolts. One at the top and one below. I would simply close the lower bolt. Btw, I am a short person and I am proud of it.

You can be a short person and still reach the handle. Actually, few people are that short! Or, as a security guard in a huge shop, (sitting on phone books piled on the chair), you could press the big button that closes all the doors. Manually? Uh, yes you press manually on the button. Or, if you are a short desperado, just showing up in a small town with a gun will magically close all the doors in sight.

I suppose FiBsTeR has the best time for now, if he is talking about draught? Yes, I wanted to exclude the draught, by mentioning that there is one temperature, or something like that, but it sounds silly, so I haven't. Still, I think, well, I'm sure that there is a faster way.

Where I come from, opening the windows of a room allows the doors in the room to close easier, sometimes by themselves. The air you displace when the door closes is able to go out the window! For example, if you have two main doors to the front of your house, you'll know that closing the second door while the first door (storm door) is closed is hard, because you are pushing air into the other door. Whereas, if you opened the first door, you are able to close the second door with relative ease (although now you'll have troubles with the first...). You would only open the windows, however, if the weather was fair, as you said. EDIT: A picture tells a thousand words...

| I suppose you're the one who should be proud about yourself, but that doesn't help much if people avoid you like you have plague. But I'm sure that is not the case with you, like it is with me, in real life, that is. Then again, you might have more problems than I do, because I never saw an Indian looking like Neo from Matrix. Split personality may be interesting, but it represents a mental disorder nonetheless. on Nov 18th, 2007, 8:31am, FiBsTeR wrote:Where I come from, opening the windows of a room allows the doors in the room to close easier, sometimes by themselves. |
| Yes but how much time would that take, approximately? I must know to compare with the intended solution. Then again, I am sure that the intended solution is faster, not a lot faster, but faster, so forget about it.

Perhaps JiNbOtAk is on a roll right now? If so, he might be the one, not Neo, and solve this one too!

| Heh, where's the fun in doors ? Fires are more my thing. Anyway, of the top of my head, get some strings, loop them at all the door handles, and pull at them, effectively closing all of the doors at once. If you're a real dwarf, get someone else to tie the strings.

use something to hit one door so hard it closes, and it shakes the room so hard so it closes the other doors

With all 4 doors open, you press on the accelerator hard. Being short, you should actually stand on it if you still want to see the road through the steering wheel.
