A man cuts something in half, and then puts it right back together again, good as new, without using tape or glue.

I'll go with pie. It wouldn't taste any worse for being cut in two, so it'd still be as good as [when] new (assuming there isn't too long a time between the 'newly baked' and 'being cut' stage.)

He used Carve.exe to cut a PC file in two. He then joined them together into its original form using the /j switch of Carve.exe.

There are these things in quantum mechanics where one particle goes 2 ways simultaneously and can merge into one particle later. Another idea: Exodus comes to mind. But it wasn't a man, was it? So maybe Bruce and his tomato soup in "Bruce Almighty"?

no to all. This took me probably 20 minutes of yes or no questioning to figure it out. And even once I had narrowed down every aspect of it through those questions, it still took me a couple minutes to figure out what they all added up to.

I'd say it's a non-edible solid.

Gallium is a solid metal at room temperature and melts at 85 degrees farenheight. Cut it in half. After you cut it in half, just warm up both ends with your hands which will melt the ends that you can put together again without glue or tape. Alternatively, you can warm the two pieces up in an regular oven a low temperature . When its all liquid, make it into one single block again and let it cool.

you might call it a pile, I suppose, but I wouldn't. interesting idea denis, but this object is much more common for someone to have than a block of galium.
