The police officer catches a young man spraying red graffiti on the wall. But this officer likes riddles, so he says that he will not take him in if he answers a riddle right: 'How could you make a big red circle using the least paint of your spray?' What answer can boy offer to get out of this?

I have ~50 posts to hack a "R" into a "D". Which one?

I'm not sure how you define least amount of spray. For example...
A paints a circle with a whole can of spray paint and B paints the same size circle with half a can.
Clearly B has done better than A.

C paints a circle with two cans of spray paint and D paints the same size circle with one whole can.
Clearly D has done better than C.

But has D done better than B?

So are we looking for any circle that requires the least amount of paint, like a "dot", or the biggest circle possible using the whole can?

You can do better than that. And the less you press its valve, the more you are closer to the solution. And Nero, speed is irrelevant here, so take your time.

Btw, you are the one who should figure what I am looking for, not the other way around.  Wink

Point to a globe, and say "see? That red line circles the world, and I didn't even need to touch my can!"  Tongue

And the officer replies "yeah, but you didn't make that circle!"

Of course, the officer only specifies that he minimize the paint from his can.

Along the same line:

He makes a big circle with his can all over the policeman's car.
- Hey, you used plenty of paint from your can!
- It's not mine, I stole it. (ducks and runs)

But how?

Note that he doesn't have to use the spray right then. He just has to say to the officer how one could accomplish what I am looking for. Wink

Grimbal has already elaborated on the same idea, but let me re-emphasize: the officer only said that he had to minimize the paint used from HIS can.

It has to be boy's spray. The answer is not half-hardy, so you have to search deeper.

He spays (or rather than vandalize again, he tells the policeman that one can spray) the car's head light requiring just a bit of paint from the can. Then when you turn on the headlight aginst the wall, you get a big circle. I'm assuming in this instance that the paint is not opaque so that the circle projected on the wall is really red instead of black.

If the paint is opaque, then he can paint a large dot in the middle of the Policeman car's red light (the one used when in chase), so that the rest of the light projects a big red circle on the wall.

Very good Denis! Shocked I accepted your idea. Cool So maybe you can figure out the intended answer as well, in which there are no lights involved, except for the sunlight, of course.    Wink

Does it has to be a full circle? Or would a half-circle be enough?

The former.   Cool And don't forget, it has to be big, or at least, pretty big. Maybe this will point you in the right direction. Maybe not.   Wink

He attaches the bomb to a long rope and swings it around in a big circle.  The circle is made with the paint, but he doesn't really use any.

Or (warning offensive content).
"Drop your pants and bend down.  You'll get a circle big and red!"

It looks to me that you are ready for the kill, Grimbal. But rope is not the best choice: something else, perhaps? Actually, you got the idea right, so I decided that you are the winner! Still, rope is not the happiest choice, like I said, so patch up the above hole, will you?  Wink

Oh and the above spray has to be used.

Elaborating on someone else's idea, he just leaves the can where it is.  In 24h (or 23h56) it will make a big circle around the world, or at least along a parallel.

I was thinking of something faster than rope, that's all.

Not a bad idea, not bad at all, but the circle has to be visible, not invisible.  Wink

What else can I say.

He undresses, plays "helicopter" urinating along the way.  You see, he has one of these bad diseases where he got blood in the urine.

Or he knocks the policeman with the bottom of his can, making a red mark on his face.

He sprays the ends of helicopter blades, and voila!
