To be timed to the minute like that it would have been something notable (not to mention to be able to remember without google).

Was it birth or death of a famous person?
Was it volcanic eruption or earthquake?
Was it a celestial event (e.g. a total solar eclipse)?

Which time zone?  Er... tricky question.  As a matter of fact, it doesn't really matter.  But I think GMT would be appropriate.  Local time would be better.  Any local time.   Huh

From memory, I recall  they changed calendars about that time period from Julian to Gregorian. But I don't think it was exactly in 1592. btw they lost about two weeks in the month of the switchover. The regular folks still had to pay a full months rent but only received two weeks wages.

Caused lots of rioting and other wonderfull moments.

[edit] actually happened in 1752 so I was wayyyy off]

Julius Ceasar was murdered on the ides of March (March 14) but at least 1500 years off. And maybe even the wrong calendar at that.

It would have been the death of a famous person anyway.

Sounds about 100 years after columbus; could also be the anniversary of the reconquista (or however it's spelled)

Yes, there are different date formats but for some reason I felt like the British/US date format would be good to use today.

Hm... it is not something that happened physically.  It is something that makes that particular date and time special.

OK I got it.... I was going in circles until I finally found it... Did not use any search engine but Tower's hint was pretty good. Funny thing is I read about it in the papers two days ago and it didn't click till now.

Heads will roll...

Yeah, I was trying to figure out when the official introduction of the guillotine was (Scottish Maiden ~1564)...when I realized that there is finally evidence to the early claims of Frederick Tiedmann stating that brain size is directly related to intelligence. Thus putting the pieces together...in the future there will be a savage law to eliminate dumb people from our planet--if the circumference of your skull fits through the hole--lop it off!

I was thinking about this today.  Funny that someone posted it here.  Mathematicians will have the party of the century in 2015 with just five digits.  Imagine what it would be like back then.

My birthday is on "pi day" and since I discovered that fact I've been wondering about the accuracy of the digits of pi that we've all been using. I'm thinking now that the ratio of circumference to diameter is more like 3.1419 rather than 31.1415. Has anyone else noticed any anomalies in their calculations?  Roll Eyes
