This is by far the most self-confused riddle I've ever seen. Jack is mortally wounded, but doesn't die in Maine. He dies in Arizona in August. Then you ask where and when he dies? In Arizona in August! What on earth is going on here? And on top of that, it's triple-posted.

Hmmmm, a very convoluted riddle indeed. Here are a few guesses to get the ball rolling: there are two Jack's: Jack Sr and Jack Junior. Jack Junior moved to Arizona while Jack Senior died in Maine (we was mortally wounded after all) Another possibility: Jill buys the gun in Januarary but only shoots him in June just before moving to Florida. He moves to Arizona and gangreene sets in. He dies there in August]. A third ossibility: maybe there is a board game with these two characters moving around the US and trying to avoid getting killed And lastly: Jack and Jill are actors in a series of plays or soap opera's. 1'st play: Jill shoots and mortaly wounds Jack in Maine. But since it's a play, he doesn't die. 2'nd play: Jill moves to Florida and Jack moved to Arizona where they both die. But since its a play, they are not really dead. In real life: Jack and Jill are happily married and die of natural causes in their home state where ever this may be.

I'd say that if he doesn't die from his wound, then Jack wasn't mortally wounded. Maybe he died of lead poisoning (which can take a while), but in any case that wasn't asked. WTF already gave the probable answer.

It could be a holiday club. Maine, Florida, Arizona are names of huts. June, August are names of quarters of the holiday village. Well, that doesn't reply to the question of when and where...

I agree with WTF. This riddle contradicts itself: It says first that Jill mortally wounded Jack. This literally means she killed him - even if the wound took till august to do the job. If someone else or something else kills him before the wound does, then by definition, the wound is not mortal. Yet later in the riddle, we are told that Jill didn't kill him.

Actually, it doesn't say the mortal wound is inflicted by Jill. It makes for bad narrative, but the two facts could be unrelated.

| "Who" is the name of the person who killed them. There's no question mark at the end of that line, so it's not a question. Yeah, worst and oldest thing to try to throw into riddles, but maybe someone really thinks we're this dumb.

Going back to SeLFiE_12's point: If Jack is mortally wounded, he cannot - by definition - heal from those wounds. I like denis's idea about the plays. Here is another, unlikely, theory: Jack and Jill are characters in a book. Jill mortally wounds Jack as a cliffhanger to end the book. The book is published in January and each character dies in their next book, as per published in June and August. So the answer to the question would be: The author when he chose to kill them off. An even poorer theory is that the facts had nothing to do with each other.

Maybe there's a hospital in Arizona where Jack slowly rots away because the bullet wound damaged an internal organ that made him slowly die over 8 months, and a prison in Florida that Jill is sent to for attempted murder. Jill hears word that Jack is about to die, which means that she's never going to get out of prison, so she kills herself. I was first going to say that the prison gave her the death penalty, but to my knowledge she can't be convicted of anything like murder to get the death penalty until Jack dies (anyone seen the movie Fracture?). .

It says Jill didn't kill him guys... it just says he was mortally wounded... it didn't say how. She could have very easily shot him and only made a minor flesh wound. So I would guess that Jack and Jill have a child who is extremely pissed off by the whole situation with his parents splitting up so (s)he kills them both. Jill in Florida first and then drives across country managing to avoid police to kill Jack in Arizona in August.

You could consider yourself deadly wounded if you got the disease. And in fact, AIDS enters the body thru very small wounds, the kind you get if you stress the skin too much.
